Overview

We’re looking for a dynamic and passionate person to lead UK brand and sales for the Rockland Distilleries brands: Colombo Gin, Ceylon Arrack and Three Families Cocktail Seasoning. 

This role is to build strong industry relationships and grow sales across the UK market. This role involves education, storytelling, advocacy, and sales support to build brand awareness and convert it into product listings across different accounts. 

You will work closely with Mr Lyan Studio, who consult on brand strategy, marketing and product development, and Mangrove, Rockland’s UK distributors. 

Responsibilities

Brand Representation, Advocacy & Events 

  • Serve as the face and voice of the brand at events, trainings, trade shows, and activations.

  • Communicate the brand story, production methods, and flavour profile with confidence and expertise.

  • Host engaging tastings, masterclasses, and brand education sessions.

  • Potential to run Rockland social media accounts. 

  • Collaborate with Rockland and Mr Lyan Studio on campaigns, social media content, and product launches.

  • Stay up to date on current drink trends, competitors, and category insights.

  • Work alongside Mr Lyan Studio to train bartenders and partners on the brand and serve recommendations.
     

Trade & Account Support & Sales 

  • Help to build and maintain strong relationships with bars, restaurants, retailers, and distributors.

  • Secure new menu listings for all products 

  • Identify new account opportunities and help grow brand visibility

  • Negotiate commercial sales deals with relevant accounts 

Reporting & Admin

  • Track sales, activations, account visits, and sampling results.

  • Provide regular feedback on market conditions and opportunities.

  • Manage event budgets, stock, assets, and promotional materials.

  • Example KPIs: trainings delivered, coverage of UK cities, new accounts connected, contributing to annual sales

Requirements

  • Experience in bartending, hospitality, sales, or brand advocacy preferred.

  • Strong interest in the drinks industry and hospitality.

  • Experience managing social media accounts (personal or professional), generating engagement and building community online. 

  • Beneficial to have experience working with distributors, understanding pour deals, retros, etc. 

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and people skills. 

  • Ability to educate and engage diverse audiences.

  • Self-motivated, organised, and comfortable working independently.

  • Flexible schedule — able to travel around the UK to different accounts, evening and weekend events may be required.

Rockland Distilleries
Rockland Distilleries is a pioneering spirits company based in Sri Lanka and founded in 1924. Founded by Cyril Surasena, it was originally as a producer of traditional Sri Lankan arrack. Over the decades, Rockland has evolved into one of the country's most renowned distilleries, known for producing high-quality spirits that celebrate Sri Lanka's heritage while also incorporating modern distilling techniques.

Colombo Gin 

Colombo Gin originated in Sri Lanka during World War II when a local distillery was asked to produce gin for the war effort. The recipe, created by Amal de Silva Wijeyeratne's grandfather, uses a unique blend of traditional botanicals with local Sri Lankan spices like cinnamon bark, curry leaves, and ginger root. Although the original recipe was from Sri Lanka, the gin is now distilled in the UK at Langley Distillery, owned by Rockland Distillery in Sri Lanka. The range includes: Colombo No.7, Colombo No.8 & Colombo Navy Strength. 

Ceylon Arrack 

A traditional Sri Lankan spirit made from the hand-harvested and naturally fermented sap of the coconut flower. Ceylon Arrack boasts a delicate floral flavour profile and is likened to a lightly aged rum, a delicate rye whisky or a smooth tequila.

Three Families 

A range of 5 different blends of cocktail seasonings in partnership with two other Sri Lankan families with a history of drinks expertise- Mr Lyan & Dilmah Tea. The range brings the taste of the Sri Lankan tropics to the UK, and includes: Ceylon Sour, Amethyst Punch, Verdant Sinhaya, Sunset Pekoe, Pettah Market.
